Jolma Poll Dorset Stud was established in 1958 by John (JR) and Wilma Jasper, who, together with their son Perry and daughter-in-law Karren, farm at Cunderdin approximately 200km east of Perth, Western Australia.
The last 18 months have been very exciting for the Jolma stud.
In March last year the stud moved to a new home when principals John and Perry Jasper bought a property just east of Cunderdin on the Great Eastern Highway.
Perry said the stud’s new home was a better parcel of land for stock production.
“The property’s highway location makes it easier for clients to find and gives us a bit more exposure,” he said.
The stud also embarked on an exciting high performance expansion program using the top end of their stud ewe flock.
This year’s lambs were the result of the stud’s second big embryo transfer program following on from an intensive program the year before.
The program focused on the higher ranking stud ewes.
“The aim is to expand the depth in our stud flock and consequently be able to offer a higher number of more consistent quality rams.
“We have used some top ranking sires within the programs and those genetics combined with our top stud ewes are producing some good results.”
