2008 Wagin Woolorama - Farm Weekly Interbreed LambPlan Production Class winners

John, Perry and Josh with the winning pair in the inaugural Farm Weekly Interbreed Production Class

JOLMA WINS EXCITING NEW PERFORMANCE COMPETITION
The inaugural Interbreed production competition held at this year's Wagin Woolorama was designed to focus on commercial traits associated with prime lamb production, whilst still showing displays by including objective and subjective judging categories. Including a ewe in the pair sought to highlight the wide ranging influence a quality ewe can have in the modern breeding program.
Jolma entered three pairs in the competition, which attracted 22 entries, and finished first and second.
The winning ram, Jolma 369/07, was bred in the program and was the highest ranked ram in the stud's show team on the LambPlan Carcase Plus index at 215.8
The competition combined objective measurement and visual assessment, not a new idea in sheep showing, but it took it one step further by using LambPlan to allocate points according to individual breed percentiles for terminal and maternal traits to pit different breeds against each other.
